02.26.12 - Shades

We took advantage of another unseasonably warm winter day to go for a walk. Maddie and Nate went on one with Daddy while Tommy and Mommy napped and then Tommy, Nate, Mommy and Daddy took Harley for a walk while Maddie played down the street at Ainsley and Ellie's house. Tommy actually wore his sunglasses, kicking his feet playfully the entire time.

This is what it would look like if we had six kids. Don't worry, we're not.

02.24.12 - "Tommy, put some pants on!"

Nate likes to say, "Put some pants on!" if he sees one of us wearing shorts or one of his siblings sans pants, which makes this headline completely appropriate for this photo. Tommy is in the stage where he hates having his diaper changed and can wriggle his way away from one of us without much effort. He's also a very fast crawler so that means he can get quite away away from us in no time. Of course, he's the third kid, so we'll take the time to take a few photos instead of panicking that he might do a job on the floor.

02.21.12 - Grandma and Grandpa's house

Tommy's been spending a lot of time with Grandma and Grandpa Shepherd lately. They like to play toys about as much as he does.

02.20.12 - Learning to walk

Tommy's really getting the hang of his walker-riders. He hasn't quite figured out how to turn around, though, so he finds himself in a lot of corners.

02.18.12 - Keepin' warm by the fire

We don't like the winter but we do like spending time next to a warm fire in the fireplace. We gotta stay close by so that Tommy doesn't get too close. Of course, because he's not supposed to touch it, he wants to.

Tommy got ahold of a green crayon today. I guess that explains the green poop tonight. :)

02.16.12 - A good day at the zoo

A warm day in the middle of February means one thing - a trip to the zoo! It was an eventful trip. Given that there was hardly anyone there on a weekday, we practically had the place to ourselves. We fended off a peacock while enjoying a picnic lunch near the American Farm. We met a family from Canada. We got up close and personal with a pair of penguins and an overly aggressive chimpanzee tried to kick us in the face (thank goodness for protective glass!). But the best moment of all came when this (presumably) female chimp came over to meet Tommy.

Harley has taught Tommy her favorite trick - begging for food.

02.14.12 - Sunshines

Harley likes to lie in the sunshines. She won't let an active almost-one-year-old get in her way.

02.13.12 - Unhappy face

We think Tommy is upset because he bonked himself in the head. Or it could be that Nate wasn't be very nice to him today. Either way, we don't have many unhappy photos of Tommy so this is today's photo.

02.12.12 - No carrots, need sleepy!

We take a lot of photos of Tommy eating. That's because he's usually always doing something interesting sitting in his high chair. Today, at lunch, he just fell asleep. I don't think he'd even taken a bite yet.

02.11.12 - Don't play with your food

Normally, Tommy chows down on anything we put in front of him. Tonight, however, he decided he's rather play with his food than eat it, which was OK with Harley, who had quite a bit more to clean up.

We've presented dinner to Tommy on a plate a couple of times. Clearly, he's not ready to eat off of one yet!

02.08.12 - Foldin' laundry

It was just Tommy and I at home this afternoon so we passed the time by doing some laundry. He's fascinated by socks!

I'm not sure if Harley is saying, "let me in!" or if Tommy is saying, "let me out!" Either way, they were helpless and neither can reach the door handle!

Soon, Tommy will transition to a sippy cup, too, and then what will we do with that cabinet full of bottles?

02.05.12 - Good food and good company

We had a busy weekend entertaining. After Nate's party yesterday (thus the party decorations still on the wall), we had Nan and Pop over tonight for Cuban steak with yellow rice and beans, one of our new favorite dishes, which I think we've talked about a time or two. :)

02.04.12 - Chocolate cake

Tommy tries a piece of Nate's "chocolate Bob" cake at his party today. Six weeks or so and we'll be celebrating Tommy's first birthday.

We walked over to get Tommy at Grandma and Grandpa Shepherd's house today since it was so nice out. I can't hardly wait for 9 p.m. sunsets!
