03.31.11 - Opening Day

Tommy watches an Opening Day baseball game between the Giants and the Dodgers. His mom is a Giants fan. We got the car seats situated in the Pilot today which means we're now all ready for a road trip to Cincinnati, where the Reds today defeated Milwaukee 7-6 on a 3-run jack in the bottom of the ninth inning. Angie's Giants lost 2-1.

03.30.11 - Test shot

Tommy was doing something (sleeping?) cute and Angie wanted to get a photo of it. Before she did, I made a quick test frame to make sure the exposure and white balance were set appropriately. Of course the sound of the shutter startled him and he moved. So instead of a cute photo of him doing something really cute, you get this. A test shot.

03.29.11 - Didn't like it in the hospital, either

Tommy didn't cry during child birth, getting his shots or getting his heel pricked. But he did cry while getting a bath. A week later, he still hates it.

03.28.11 - The Original Baby Daddy

This post has nothing to do with the photo of me with all three of the kiddos. They were all wearing monkey jams and were reading a series of Tonka Truck books before bed. After Nate and Tommy were asleep, Maddie asked for Molly, one of her babies. I commented to Angie that because Maddie has so many I wouldn't even know which one Molly is if she were right in front of me. Maddie found her and carried her out to the living room. "See, Mike," Angie said. "That's Molly, the original baby daddy."

Notice the missing comma? Yeah, there should be one between "baby" and "daddy" to imply that she's telling me that Molly is the original, or first, baby that Maddie had. The way she said it made it sound like Molly is a baby daddy. No, that's me. I'm the original baby daddy. :)

We always get a good laugh out of this lesson in copy editing. I also go back to this example.

"Let's eat, Grandma!" or "Let's eat Grandma!" Personally, I'd rather have dinner with Grandma than to have Grandma for dinner. But that's just me.

03.27.11 - Notice a trend here?

We won't let the kids sleep with us at night but what's the harm in a little cat nap during the day? Now, Harley on the other hand ...

03.26.11 - Cuddle buddies

Harley hasn't wasted any time bonding with her new baby brother. Or stealing his blankies. :)

03.25.11 - Tired

We were all a little tired today as Tommy was up all night after sleeping for five hours the night before. Here's hoping tonight goes a little smoother!

03.24.11 - Pre-op

The truth is, I find fault in nearly all of the images I publish to any of the kids' blogs. Distracting background. Messy hair. Awkward composition. Stained shirt. Poor lighting or poor exposure or both. In this frame, I love, love, love the look on Angie's face but I keep getting drawn to that darned binkers in Tommy's mouth. We're not ones to get caught up with the notion of nipple confusion and he needed the soothing while stripped down in preparation for his circumcision at Dr. Green's office today. And, had I pulled the binkers from his mouth I likely would have ruined this moment. So, I'll look at this frame and know what a wonderful mother our kids have and I'll try not to pay too much attention to the binkers.

03.23.11 - No visitors, need sleepy!

Nan and Pop came over tonight to bring dinner and meet Tommy. He didn't meet them as he slept the whole time. Babies have it so easy.

03.22.11 - Lookin' a lot better

Tommy is lookin' a lot better today. He was a bit blue in the face following his delivery yesterday. We were so distracted by his Smurf-like appearance that we didn't notice his bleach blonde hair!
