07.16.12 - Daycare days

After 15 months, a spot at Lisa's day care finally opened up for Tommy! We're glad to finally have them all together. Grandma and Grandpa Shepherd had been his primary daycare provider and did a fabulous job! (In fact, I already miss having the dishes cleaned and put away when we get home. Thanks, Mom!) In the past month, though, Tommy has noticed that we leave him behind each morning. He would shake the heck out of the baby gate while crying. And because Maddie and Nate play so well together and with others, we wanted Tommy to have the same socialization opportunities. Here they all are, on the front porch of Lisa's house, clutching their snugglies, on Tommy's first day. (Maddie's waving hello, by the way.)

As you can imagine, he was super excited to get to leave the house with us.

Once inside, Nate started showing Tommy all the toys.

Tommy is a climber and right away found the fireplace to climb on.

He quickly found his way down the hallway to the toy room. He was in heaven!

06.19.12 - Don't pee in the pool!

End of last summer Angie talked me into buying a $10 kiddie pool that was on the clearance shelf at Target. We pulled it out tonight after inviting Ainsley and Elly down to run through the sprinkler. Who loved it more than anyone? Tommy, of course!

Tommy has picked up on the art of watching TV.

04.21.12 - Vroom!

Tommy likes to push Hot Wheels around the house while saying what sounds like "vroom!" so tonight we let him take the car out for a spin. He liked the horn the most.

04.20.12. - Elbows Feet off the table!

First he put his feet on the table, then he started clapping his feet together, then he stuck his feet in his mouth. After all that, he flashed us his smile. He can get away with anything!

Might be hard to see in this frame but Tommy has a face full of bubble bath.

03.27.12 - "Still got some blogging to do"

Tommy got his first wagon ride tonight. We were about three houses down the block when Angie asked if I had my camera. I didn't but ran back to the house to get it. After snapping a couple of photos, I recalled yesterday's photo of Tommy sitting at the table. Two firsts in two days. Angie was quick to point out, "you've still got some blogging to do."

Tommy got a booster seat for his birthday so he now joins us at the table for dinner although we've yet to bring ourselves to remove the high chair from the room!

03.24.12 - Tommy's first birthday party

We celebrated Tommy's first birthday today. The theme was puppies. As always, Angie outdid herself in baking the cake.








Puppy chow snack mixed served in a water dish, of course.


Get the family together and Maddie turns shy and crawls up on Grandma Shepherd's lap. She sulked for awhile.




Those are NOT real dog treats.


Finally, after three years of hosting birthday parties, we finally figured out how to comfortably accommodate everyone in our small living room.

Each kid gets a balloon tied to their dining room chair on their birthday. We were disappointed that Party City no longer carries the giant "1" balloon. We settled for this uninspired cupcake instead.






I think Angie was more excited about the gifts than Tommy was.


We have no idea what sparked this reaction from Gramma Karen and Savannah.


Tommy's much anticipated chair arrived. He'd been pushing Nate's around for the past month or so, which didn't make Nate very happy.


He knows just how it works.

03.22.12 - The Best of Hey, Tommy!

Our baby boy turned 1 yesterday so following bedtime we sat down on the sofa and picked our favorite photos from the past year. Click here to see it!

03.21.12 - Having fun turning one!

Today is Tommy's first birthday! He awoke this morning to his mommy and daddy singing Happy Birthday and then enjoyed blueberry pancakes for breakfast. A little later, he'll go with mommy to pick out a new pair of shoes. This photo was taken at 2:42 p.m., the exact minute he was born on this day last year. Happy birthday, Tommy! We love you!

03.20.12 - Goofaloofus

It's bedtime, so of course Tommy is all wound up for a game of peek-a-boo.

03.19.12 - Milkman

Tommy has started the transition away from formula. Tonight he had three ounces of milk mixed in with his bedtime bottle. He chugged it like he didn't even know the difference.

03.18.12 - First birthday gift

Tommy opened his first birthday gift today: a zoo magnet set from Uncle Brian and Aunt Emily. He wasn't quite sure what to do so Maddie and Harley showed him.

03.17.12 - Green shirts

Angie made sure we had something green to wear on this St. Patrick's Day, including Tommy's "Kiss Me I'm Irish" and my "Take a photo, it will last longer" Old Navy print tees. As I near the end of Tommy's daily blog, I can say that I have taken a few photos. More than a thousand, actually, between Maddie, Nate and Tommy's first year. No wonder I'm exhausted!

03.16.12 - Cleanup in Aisle One

I'm not sure who dropped Cheerios first but they all had a hand in cleaning them up.

03.15.12 - Goodnight, my someone

Angie likes to sing this song, from The Music Man, to Tommy at bedtime.

03.14.12 - Brush 'em teeth!

Tommy likes having his two bottom teeth brushed. Here's hoping he gets some more teeth soon!

Tommy was all smiles when I got home a little early this afternoon. Stinkin' cute kid!
