10.30.11 - Calgon, take me away!

Tommy took his first bath in the duck tub tonight. Unlike Maddie and Nate, who both wanted to play, Tommy leaned back and lounged the whole time.

10.29.11 - New ride

It was getting to be about time to move Tommy out of the infant carrier and into a big boy car seat. We'd been putting off that purchase for awhile and we're glad we did as our neighbors, Chad and Danea, offered us one that they just stopped using for their youngest daughter. There's only a couple of years left before it "expires" but we'll sure use it anyway. We installed it today and let Tommy (and Harley!) check it out while the others were napping.

10.28.11 - Don't be rude

Robin and Theodore stopped by for a quick visit tonight. Tommy, don't be rude!

10.27.11 - Another day with Grandma Shepherd

Grandma Shepherd stayed with Tommy today so we could visit K-State with Callie. Although it wasn't her usual day to babysit, neither one really minded all that much.

10.26.11 - A little off the top, please

Say, wha??? I've only got a little on the top!

Maddie and Nate went to get haircuts tonight in anticipation of our yet-to-be-scheduled family portrait session. We couldn't find a sitter at the last minute for Tommy, so he got to go along, too. Oh, you should have seen the look on everyone's face when we walked through the door, carrying two and pushing a stroller. But you know what? They were so well behaved that you wouldn't have even known they were there if you didn't see 'em.

10.25.11 - Teething ring for dinner

A teething ring and a chest full of slobbery drool only means one thing ... we have a tooth!

10.24.11 - We're brothers ...

... we're gonna do lots of dumb stuff together!

10.23.11 - No sound

Rough day. Angie and I were up late last night and Nate woke up before the crack of dawn. Tommy and Nate both have runny noses. Nate was especially clingy and Maddie was especially whiny. To top it all off, I had a portrait shoot late this afternoon, so just as everyone was at their worst, I had to leave the house. So, Angie loaded up and went to Nan and Pop's house, hoping that a stroll around the lake might do everyone some good. But that didn't seem to help. Here, Tommy gets rocked to sleep by Nan as two other kids scream off-camera. Be glad there's no sound to accompany this photo

10.22.11 - Wildcat Touchdown!

We watched the Sunflower Showdown with our friends Drew and Jen today. Tommy smiles as K-State scores another touchdown in the 59-21 win. Go State!

10.21.11 - Property of Mom

Tommy likes his mom and his mom likes him!

10.20.11 - Yes, those are my toes

The Rainbows vision teacher paid us a visit today. She showed us some more exercise to do with Tommy to promote his development. Clearly, he's doing fine. He was unimpressed that she tried to draw his attention to his toes, as if to say, "Yes, I know I have toes. I found them last week."

10.19.11 - Grandpa Shepherd

Nate likes Grandpa Shepherd's truck and Tommy likes sitting on Grandpa Shepherd lap!

10.18.11 - Swimmin' with the fishies

Bath time is getting interesting these days ...

10.17.11 - Airplane

Tommy gets to play one of Maddie's and Nate's favorite games: Airplane!

Sunday, October 16, 2011

10.16.11 - Ring bearer

Tommy looks on as I begin an initial edit of a wedding I shot yesterday. When I came across an image of the ring bearer, I had to stop and make today's photo. I bet he'd make a cute ring bearer. He's already got some rings!

10.15.11 - Peas, Please.

Tonight Tommy ate peas for dinner. This boy can eat a full jar or half of two different jars at each sitting, more than his brother and sister ate at this age. Just wait until he is a teenager!

10.14.11 - Long time coming

This photo has been floating around on Nan's camera for about three months. No one will probably even see it.

10.13.11 - Playgroup

We were invited to bring the kids to the medical school today to participate in a playgroup so that psychiatry residents could observe healthy and normal childhood development. Here Tommy gets to meet Dr. Atwal, a second year resident. She liked him until he spit up on her, then she handed him back! Well, that's pretty normal childhood development for a six-month-old!

10.12.11 - Full belly ...

... means time for a nap!

10.11.11 - When you're the third kid ...

... sometimes you get dressed up like Strawberry Shortcake.

10.10.11 - Demonstration

Today was Tommy's six month checkup. I believe the question from Dr. Green was, "Is he rolling over?" right about the time Tommy decided to show him ... while lying on the exam table! I swear, some days I'm not sure what to think about having two boys.

10.09.11 - Big hit at the party

My business partner, Karen, hosted an open house at her consultation space in Salina today so Tommy joined us for the trip up while Maddie and Nate spent the afternoon at Grandma and Grandpa Shepherd's house. Tommy was quite the hit, impressing everyone including Agnes, a friend of ours from Salina, and Chris, one of our grooms from 2007.

10.08.11 - Monster

If that's his scary face, I'm not scared!

10.07.11 - The brood at bedtime

This is what the few minutes before bedtime usually looks like at our house. Maddie is watching "my moo-bie" - usually a 20 minute Strawberry Shortcake or Dora cartoon, Tommy is trying to fall asleep on the sofa, Harley is already asleep on the sofa and Nate ... well, who knows what he might be up to!

10.06.11 - Double shot

Tommy gave blood for a genetic test today. Unfortunately, the first tech wasn't successful in getting the required amount so he had to get poked in the other arm. We should know something in about a month.

10.05.11 - Bottoms up

Tommy's figuring out how to hold his own bottle. He's made the transition from breast milk to formula just fine.

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

10.04.11 - Toys make me happy

Tommy likes playing with his toys, when his brother and sister will leave them alone, that is!

Monday, October 3, 2011

10.03.11 - Little helper

Maddie holds Tommy's bedtime bottle for him.

10.02.11 - We need one of these chairs

Uncle Brian has this pimp recliner-rocker in his living room. As you can tell, it works wonders! We need one - STAT!

10.01.11 - "You could put six packs of be - soda in here."

Another weekend in Manhattan, this time to celebrate Emily's birthday at her surprise party after the K-State game. Although the plan included a ladies' night out in Aggieville, Angie just couldn't wait that long. Tommy liked gnawing on the can.

(Don't worry, grandparents and random LEOs: No babies were hurt and no alcohol was consumed in the making of this photograph.)
